General Solutions of Trigonometric Equations 1

Hi guys, my name is Eejay Lance Chua

Today in class we have learned about the General Solutions of Trigonometric Equations.

• Not bound by an interval
• It has an unlimited coterminal answers
• To each solution for sinθ or cosθ, we add 360°k for degrees or 2kπ for radians
• To each solution for tanθ add 180°k for degrees or kπ for radians
• k accounts for all positive and negative coterminal integers
• Include with every answer: where kϵI ( where k is an element of an integer)

Example:

θ = π/4 + 2kπ, 7π/4 + 2kπ where k ϵ I
or
θ = 45° + 360°k, 315° + 360°k where k ϵ I

Homework: Exercise 5, Questions 1, 3-8(use radians)
